STARTUPS@REEPERBAHN – Version 5.0

For the fifth year in a row, September marks the fifth season of the year for startups in Hamburg. This gives young, innovative companies from across Europe a chance to make their pitch at the Startups@Reeperbahn, and to introduce themselves to over 450 investors, corporates, journalists and multipliers from the German digital and media sector. The WELT Media Prize, a media budget of 100,000 Euro, is in store for the winning team of five finalists.

The unique atmosphere of the Reeperbahn scene, combined with the first class audience, offers the participants the chance to network and promote themselves like nowhere else. To round off the pitch event, there will be a full programme of conferences with superb speakers. Last but not least, the legendary Lovemobiles will be carrying out surprise encounters between startups and suitable mentors.

Get to know your investor for life partner at the aftershow

After their big presentation, the finalists are whisked off to an exclusive aftershow event. Hamburg Startups and Lakestar, supported by EY, will be matching them with hand-picked investors. This wouldn’t be the first time that the event sparked a long-term and successful business relationship.

Send in your applications by 18 August to secure your chance of convincing the jury with your robust and impassioned arguments. Dr Brigitte Mohn (Member of the Executive Board, Bertelsmann Stiftung), Mark Hoffmann (Co-Founder & CEO Gründerszene), Dr Cornel Wisskirchen (Managing Director, Deutsche Bank), Christian Fuhrhop (CFO WeltN24 GmbH), Gabriele Fischer ( Editor in Chief & Publisher brandeins), Sven Klenner (Director Sales eCommerce &  Marketing, Thalia Buch GmbH), Tatjana Kiel (Managing Director, Klitschko Ventures GmbH), Fridtjof Detzner (Founder, Jimdo) and Gina Deeble (Vice President Commerce Platforms, QVC Germany) will decide who deserves the WELT Media Prize and a trip to SXSW.

Music meets Startups

What do music, startups and the Kiez area of Hamburg have in common? Simple: musicians and startups share the same spirit: having the right team that shares the same vision and that works hard to be successful, and eventually reach the masses. The Kiez area of Hamburg is creative, boundless and authentic – making it the best place to perform. A unique mixture that allows for a very personal and unusual format that brings together startups and investors. Startups@Reeperbahn is the most successful and attention-grabbing event in the start-up scene in northern Germany.

It was started in 2013 by Hamburg Startups and organised in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival. The previous winners Tinnitracks, TripRebel, Antelope and Baqend have received many more prizes and nominations. The Reeperbahn Festival is Germany’s biggest club festival and counts amongst the three most important venues for the music and digital economy in Europe. There are over 700 items in the programme for 22 to 23 September that cover a wide range of sectors in more than 70 locations on and around the Reeperbahn in Hamburg.

About Hamburg Startups

Hamburg Startups is the leading startup platform in the media-city of Hamburg and is committed to effective networking and representation in the startup scene. The port city of Hamburg has become a benchmark for many European locations with an ecosystem that Hamburg Startups has significantly helped to build up over the last four years. Alongside a variety of unusual event formats, founders Sina Gritzuhn and Sanja Stankovic created the Hamburg Startup Monitor platform which gives a transparent representation of all startups. Since 2014 start-ups have been offered the chance to take part in a unique startup panel and use the Relation Tool to get in contact with journalists, investors and cooperating partners. The aim of Hamburg Startups is to raise the national and international visibility of the Hamburg startup scene. In February 2016 the first study of the Hamburg startup ecosystem was published. The founders are currently working on a national concept.
